It is tasked with advising and assisting the Commissioner-General of UNRWA in carrying out the Agency's mandate. The AdCom meets twice a year, usually in June and November. Lebanon is the current chair of the Advisory Commission, and the United Kingdom is the Vice-Chair. ENDs- Background Information: UNRWA is the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees in the Near East. The United Nations General Assembly established UNRWA in 1949 with a mandate to provide humanitarian assistance and protection to registered Palestine refugees in the Agency's area of operations pending a just and lasting solution to their plight. UNRWA operates in the West Bank, including East Jerusalem, The Gaza Strip, Jordan, Lebanon and Syria.  Tens of thousands of Palestine refugees who lost their homes and livelihoods due to the 1948 conflict continue to be displaced and in need of support, nearly 75 years on. UNRWA helps Palestine Refugees achieve their full potential in human development through quality services it provides in education, health care, relief and social services, protection, camp infrastructure and improvement, microfinance, and emergency assistance. UNRWA is funded almost entirely by voluntary contributions.   دعوة- مؤتمر صحفي        الموضوع: مؤتمر صحفي على هامش اجتماع اللجنة الاستشارية للأونروا نصف السنوي المتحدثان: المفوض العام للأونروا، فيليب لازاريني ورئيس لجنة الحوار اللبناني الفلسطيني د. باسل الحسن الزمان: 20 حزيران/يونيو2023  من الساعة 12:30 الى 13:30 بعد الظهر المكان: فندق موفنبيك - قاعة اجتماعات لو بافيّون الطابق السابع (شارع الجنرال ديغول، الروشة، بيروت) المحور الرئيسي : سيقدم المؤتمر الصحفي تحديثا حول تحديات واحتياجات لاجئي فلسطين في مناطق عمليات الوكالة الخمس وآخر المستجدات حول الأزمة المالية للأونروا. سيكون المفوض العام ورئيس لجنة الحوار اللبناني الفلسطيني جاهزين للاجابة على أسئلة الزملاء الاعلاميين خلال المؤتمر الصحفي.   للاستفسار وتأكيد الحضور: السيد فادي الطيار: f.eltayyar@unrwa.org   (+961-70010029) السيدة نهى أحمد:  nu.ahmad@unrwa.org  (+961-70723534)   الآنسة جولي مجدلاني: j.majdalani@lpdc.gov.lb +961-71316743) )   اللجنة الاستشارية  للأونروا: تم إنشاء اللجنة الاستشارية للأونروا (AdCom) بموجب قرار الأمم المتحدة رقم 302 (IV) في 8 ديسمبر 1949. وهي مكلفة بتقديم المشورة والمساعدة للمفوض العام للأونروا في تنفيذ ولاية الوكالة. تجتمع AdCom مرتين في السنة عادة في حزيران/يونيو وتشرين الثاني/نوفمبر. لبنان هو الرئيس الحالي للجنة الاستشارية، والمملكة المتحدة هي نائب الرئيس.      معلومات عامة:  الأونروا  هي وكالة الأمم المتحدة لإغاثة وتشغيل لاجئي فلسطين في الشرق الأدنى. قامت الجمعية العامة للأمم المتحدة بتأسيس الأونروا في عام 1949 وفوضتها بمهمة تقديم المساعدة الإنسانية والحماية للاجئي فلسطين المسجلين في مناطق عمليات الوكالة إلى أن يتم التوصل إلى حل عادل ودائم لمحنتهم. تعمل الأونروا في الضفة الغربية، والتي تشمل القدس الشرقية، وقطاع غزة، والأردن، ولبنان، وسوريا. وبعد مرور ما يقارب خمسة وسبعين عاما، لا يزال عشرات الآلاف من لاجئي فلسطين الذين فقدوا منازلهم وسبل عيشهم بسبب ما حصل في عام 1948 نازحين وبحاجة إلى دعم. تساعد الأونروا لاجئي فلسطين على تحقيق كامل إمكاناتهم في التنمية البشرية، وذلك من خلال الخدمات النوعية التي تقدمها في مجالات التعليم، والرعاية الصحية، والإغاثة والخدمات الاجتماعية، والحماية، والبنى التحتية وتحسين المخيمات، والتمويل الصغير بالإضافة الى المساعدات الطارئة. يتم تمويل الأونروا بالكامل تقريبا من خلال التبرعات الطوعية.
